BULAWAYO Chiefs could cash in on lethal striker Obriel Chirinda who is said to be on the radar of Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Ngezi Platinum Stars.

Chirinda’s contract with the Ninjas runs until the end of next year.

Sources say the bustling striker is one of the players targeted by Madamburo, who will be beefing up their squad for the Caf Champions League next year.

“Chirinda could be moving to Ngezi Platinum locally if he does not make it outside the country. He is one of the club’s targets for the Champions League. The striker is on demand and obviously Ngezi will be looking at making a fast swoop. The club with the biggest offer will get him as he is also wanted outside the country,” one source said.

Chirinda’s handler Micky Mugadza said some clubs are chasing the Soccer Star of the Year finalist but was not at liberty to divulge their names.

“There are clubs that are after him (Chirinda) locally and outside the country, but I cannot disclose their names for now.  We have a running contract with Bulawayo Chiefs, and I don’t want to burn bridges. We don’t want to disrespect Bulawayo Chiefs,” Mugadza said.

Chirinda said: “For now I don’t have anything in mind. I am going to see after the holiday.”

Ngezi Platinum president Takawira Maswiswi was quoted in the local media saying to deal with fatigue and injuries, the club would beef up the squad and are chasing several targets, locally and continentally.

Chirinda was Highlanders’ target this year and the Bulawayo giants’ former coach Baltemar Brito was incensed after the club failed to get the goal poacher.

Chirinda, with 12 goals to his name, was a goal short of the eventual Golden Boot winner Tatenda Benhura of Ngezi Platinum.

Another player who is said to be on Ngezi Platinum’s radar is Highlanders’ defender Mbongeni Ndlovu
