Killer T to headline Catholic fundraising initiative

THE Catholic Diocese of Gweru is holding fundraising activities to support the rehabilitation of its health centres, including the setting up of back-up power facilities for its mortuaries with Zimdancehall sensation Killer T headlining a music concert next Saturday.

The concert is part of an array of activities organised by the Catholic Church to be held at Gweru Golf Club.

Killer T and his Hot Property Band will share the stage with The Travellers Band and Samukoko in spicing up the day that has other activities such as fun run, zumba, golf tournament and cycling, among other activities.

Reverend Father Gilbert Chibhira from the Catholic Diocese of Gweru confirmed the developments to Standard Style last Wednesday.

“The golf tournament that is being put together is an initiative that has been taken by his Lordship Bishop Sekuru Nyandoro who is the leader of the Catholic Church in Gweru Diocese,” he said.

“So this tournament is designed at improving the amenities at health institutions within the diocese.

“So the first thing that Sekuru has done is to make sure that we have solarised all the mortuaries that are at our hospitals and clinics.

“The target is mainly to ensure that we do all the eight mortuaries that are there.”

He said it was an inaugural programme, which is going to be an annual event.

“So the second thing that probably you might also need to know is that this golf tournament is called the Bishop's Golf Tournament Family Fun Day,” he said.

“We also have the music concert, which is going to be live where Killer T, The Travellers Band and Samukoko are going to perform.

“A lot will be happening on the day, for example there will be a wellness programme, which will involve cycling, fun run, and zumba.

“Then we have the golfers getting into the course and the golfers that I’m talking about are very professional and drawn from different parts of the country.”

He said the golf tournament was also open to those still learning the ropes or who are will to tee for a noble cause.

“What we are expecting from all this is that we raise funds and everybody is invited to be part and parcel of this programme,” Chibhira said.
