In this season of renewal, a timeless wisdom echoes through the pages of the Bible—a wisdom that beckons us to inscribe our visions upon the tablets of our hearts and document them with purpose.
In the book of Habakkuk, we find a powerful exhortation that transcends time: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets so he may run who reads it” (Habakkuk 2:2, ESV). This divine counsel, spoken to the prophet in the midst of uncertainty, carries profound implications for us as we navigate the uncharted waters of a new year. The act of writing down a vision, as endorsed by Scripture, is more than a mere exercise in goal-setting; it is a spiritual discipline infused with transformative potential.

Despite facing adversity, Joseph clung to the vision God had given him, ultimately becoming a source of blessing for his family and a transformative figure in the Egyptian kingdom.
Furthermore, the Psalms abound with instances where the writers pour out their visions, aspirations, and struggles before the Almighty. In Psalm 37:4, we are encouraged to “delight ourselves in the Lord, and he will give us the desires of our hearts.” Writing down our visions is an expression of this delight, an act of surrender that aligns our desires with the divine will.
In the New Testament, the apostle Paul provides a compelling example of a man who penned his vision for the expansion of the Gospel.
