Cross border travel between Zimbabwe and South Africa at Beitbridge has been stopped for several hours as a security measure as President Emmerson Mnangagwa and counterpart President Cyril Ramaphosa meet for bilateral talks at the border town.
The two leaders are meeting to discuss issues concerning their two countries and will also conduct a tour of Beitbridge.
Travellers were stopped from as early as 8am and up to 11 when Mnangagwa crossed into the South African side while the southern neighbour closed its services entirely.
"We have been barred from crossing. Its inconvenienced. We should actually enjoy this travelling when our leaders are around. I am travelling to Johannesburg and I have been delayed by five hours," said a motorist who asked to remain anonymous.
Travellers were left stranded in the border area and moved back and forth by heavy security personnel.
After meeting Ramaphosa, Mnangagwa took him on a tour of the upgraded Beitbridge Border Post, which is being undertaken by South African firm, Zimborders Consortium.
