A 39-year-old man from Mzilikazi assaulted his wife after accusing her of cheating after she was groped on her back by a stranger while they were drinking beer.

Mkhululi Ndlovu pleaded not guilty to assault charges when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Makhelo Ncube last week.

The magistrate found him not guilty and he was acquitted.

The court was told that on February 3, Ndlovu and his wife, Rache Hadebe were drinking beer at Madamara shops when a stranger only identified as Sijajwa casually groped Ndlovu’s wife.

This angered Ndlovu who then accused his wife of having an affair with the man.

He allegedly went on to assault her with an empty beer bottle.

She sustained a cut on the upper left eye.

She reported the assault to the police leading to his arrest.
