Plumtree woman punished for baby dumping

A 27-YEAR-OLD woman from the Duhwe area Plumtree has been sentenced to six months in prison for baby dumping.

Phindile Moyo was convicted by Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware who suspended three months of her sentence for a period of five years.

The remaining three were committed to 105 hrs of community service at Madabe clinic.

Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa said on February 3  around 8pm, Moyo gave birth prematurely.

After giving birth, she went to dump the baby in a toilet at a nearby homestead .

The body was found on February 8  by  one Michael Ncube who wanted to relieve himself.

Moyo confessed that she was the one who had dumped the baby, leading to her arrest.
