The platinum miners defeated Caps United, Triangle United and Herentals College FC to keep alive their hopes of retaining the league title, with 10 games remaining.

AFTER finally guiding his team to three straight wins in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, FC Platinum gaffer Norman Mapeza says his focus is now on ensuring his charges continue working hard so that they can improve their log standings.

The platinum miners defeated Caps United, Triangle United and Herentals College FC to keep alive their hopes of retaining the league title, with 10 games remaining.

Their 2-0 win over Herentals was so convincing that Mapeza was left on cloud nine, confident that they can achieve their main objective if they remain consistent.

“We need to be consistent if we are going to push for the Chibuku Super Cup or the league, we simply need to be consistent,” said Mapeza.

“We have won three games in a row after a long while. I have to be honest because, we have been struggling.

“We have been scoring goals and creating opportunities. Every time we get a clean sheet, it helps everybody to be confident.

“I hope we will keep this momentum until the season ends. We need to be together until we reach the promised land.”

After 24 rounds of fixtures, Pure Platinum Play are fourth on the log standings, with 40 points on their tally, eight behind leaders Ngezi Platinum.

Meanwhile, the platinum miners are set to host Dynamos in the Chibuku Super Cup quarter-finals at Mandava Stadium at the weekend in a match promising to be a cliff-hanger considering how the two clubs have fared so far.

Dynamos will be high in terms of confidence following their 1-0 win over Caps United in the Harare derby on Sunday. FC Platinum knocked Dynamos out of the competition last season.
