Mash West promises 500K for ED

The party’s provincial chairperson Mary Mliswa-Chikoka yesterday said this in messages to Zanu PF structures ahead of tomorrow’s harmonised elections.

THE Zanu PF leadership in Mashonaland West province says it is targeting at least 500 000 votes for President Emmerson Mnangagwa in the presidential race.

The party’s provincial chairperson Mary Mliswa-Chikoka yesterday said this in messages to Zanu PF structures ahead of tomorrow’s harmonised elections.

Mnangagwa is facing Nelson Chamisa of the Citizens Coalition for Change and eight other candidates in the presidential race. Zimbabweans will also vote for parliamentarians and councillors tomorrow.

Mliswa-Chikoka told party structures on the province’s WhatsApp groups that the party would seek to surpass past achievements.

“We can only do better than last election on Wednesday. We will also get more seats for MPs and councillors. On President ED Mnangagwa, it is a must that we have to push numbers to 500 000 plus here in Mashonaland West province,” she said.

“If each constituency targets an average of 23 000 plus on President DR ED Mnangagwa we would have finished the game,” she said.

Mliswa-Chikoka urged party supporters and the leadership to know their constituency and ward centres, while calling on polling agents to remain in polling stations.

“Take note of serial numbers of ballots at the polling stations. If you are unable to read or write please ask for assistance and enter polling booth with a trusted person.

“We don’t want spoilt ballot paper. After voting please go home to avoid noise at polling stations. If you encounter any problems get in touch with constituency command centres or the provincial command centre,” she said.

Mliswa-Chikoka called on candidates to assist voters with transport.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission says there are 661 289 registered voters in the province, a number which increased by 78 300 new registered voters.
