More woes for businessman Chimutashu

Court hammer

A HARARE magistrate has ordered the messenger of court to attach businessman Malvern Chimutashu’s property worth US$10 000 after his company, EBA Insurance, failed to pay rentals of one year to retired banker Lawrence Tamayi.

Chimutashu is renting Tamayi’s property in Mt Pleasant, Harare.

A court order seen by NewsDay states: “Whereupon after reading the documents filled of record for an order for rent attachment in terms of section 34 of the Magistrate Court Act [Chapter 7:10] and the rules of this honourable court. It is ordered that the Messenger of Court do seize and arrest so much of the movable property, effects and appliances of EBA Insurance ... as shall be sufficient to satisfy the sum of US$10 000 or the equivalent in Zimbabwe dollars at the official Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe exchange rate and costs,” part of the court order read.

Chimutashu is not new to controversy after having allegedly done the same to avoid paying rentals at captain of industry Misheck Kachere’s Arundel property.

There are several other cases involving fraud which have been brought to the courts involving Chimutashu.
