SOUTH African Premier Soccer League side Marumo Gallants have unveiled Warriors player Daniel Msendami who is expected to help the team stay in the topflight league.

Gallants had been relegated to the South African National First Division, but have bounced back after successfully acquiring Moroka Swallows’ franchise.

Msendami (23) reportedly snubbed overtures from Tanzanian side Simba SC and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s TP Mazembe to settle for Gallants.

Confirming Msendami’s capture on their official Facebook page, Marumo Gallants said: “We are excited to welcome Daniel Msendami to Marumo Gallants FC! Daniel (is) a 23-year-old midfielder. We can’t wait to see Daniel bring his talent and passion to Marumo Gallants FC as we embark on this exciting journey in the Premier Soccer League! Welcome to the family, Daniel!”

Msendami is a product of the Highlanders juniors and was promoted to the senior team, but never got a chance to showcase his talent at the Bulawayo giants.

He switched clubs and went on to shine in the Botswana Premier League, where he played for Jwaneng Galaxy, and was instrumental in the side’s title defence.

Msendami, who played alongside former Highlanders vice-captain Nqobizitha Masuku at Jwaneng Galaxy, scored 12 goals and provided 16 assists last season and was part of the squad that humbled South African giants Orlando Pirates in the Caf Champions League.

He caught the attention of former Warriors coach Norman Mapeza and was part of the squad that took part in the four-nation tournament in Malawi in May.

He was also called up by coach Jairos Tapera for the second round of the Group C Fifa World Cup qualifiers played in South Africa last month.

Marumo giants will be relocating to Bloemfontein from Limpopo province and play their home games at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium and big games at the Free State Stadium.

They recently appointed Dylan Kerr as head coach.
