MIDFIELDER Juan Mutudza and goalkeeper Wallace Magalane have extended their contracts with Premier Soccer League side FC Platinum, effectively ending speculation about their future.

The duo, whose previous deals with the Zvishavane-based team were set to expire tomorrow, were both rumoured to be on their way to big spending Simba Bhora where they were to reunite with Walter Musona.

But club spokesperson Chido Chizondo told NewsDay Weekender Sport that Mutudza and Magalane had extended their stay.

She did not give out the finer details of the contracts.

“Wallace Magalane extended his contract contrary to what some sections of the media are saying. We finalised the deal in early November, so he is not going anywhere,” Chizondo said.

“Juan Mutudza is also staying after extending his contract. The only player who has officially left the club is Walter Musona.”

There has been speculation about possible changes at Mandava during the current player transfer window, with rumours that a number of key players with contracts that are expiring at the end of the year were unwilling to renew.

Those fears were heightened when former Soccer Star of the Year Musona refused to renew his contract and decided to join ambitious side Simba Bhora.

But coach Norman Mapeza, looking to reclaim the Premier League title next season, will be happy that the club has managed to tie down the influential duo of Mutudza and Magalane.

FC Platinum have also been linked with a number of high-profile players which they want to add to their squad.

They have reportedly snapped up Highlanders defender Mbongeni Ndlovu, who is seen as a replacement for former vice-captain Gift Bello, who retired from football at the end of the season.

Other reports also suggest that Mapeza’s team is closing in on Herentals star midfielder Davison Marowa to fill in the gap left by Musona.

They are also on the market for a goalkeeper to replace captain Petros Mhari, who will be released when his contract expires tomorrow.

FC Platinum are looking to reclaim title glory after their four year league dominance was ended by their platinum cousins Ngezi Platinum Stars last season.

The former champions finished the season on fourth position on the log standings.
