Zemura hails Bournemouth interim boss

Jordan Zemura

England-based Warriors’ fullback Jordan Zemura has hailed Bournemouth interim coach Gary O’Neil who remains unbeaten in the premier league in four matches since taking over from Scott Parker in August.

Zemura has featured in all the matches that O-niel has been in charge while he has played the whole 90 minutes in the last two matches including in the nil-all draw at home to Brentford on Saturday.

The Cherries have won one and drawn three matches since O’Neil took over after Parker was sacked following a 9 – 0 thumping away at Liverpool on August 27.

The 22-year-old has made seven starts for Bournemouth so far this season and has one assist to his credit as his side sit in the 13th position on the 20-team log standing with nine points from eight matches.

“Fantastic job! We love Gaz,”Zemura told the Daily Echo about how O’Neil has performed at the club so far.

“He has been here for a while now, two seasons. He’s just a great person, great manager, great guy. You can see as players, he just gives us the freedom to embrace ourselves on the pitch and not think too much of it.

“He is always giving us opportunities to play freely and not put too much on us. Just reminding us about the quality we have in the room. When we do training and stuff like that, he is always pushing us for more,” Zemura said.

O’Neil is now the favourite to land the Bournemouth coaching role on a full-time basis with the bookmakers. A week-and-a-half ago, it was O’Neil who was full of praise for Zemura who has pinned down the leftback position at the club as his after helping the team gain promotion into the topflight league last season.

“It’s a big ask for him. He’ll have had learning curves already, I’m sure. If you speak to him about it, I’m sure there’s moments where playing at this level, it shocks you initially how small a mistake you need to make for someone to capitalise on it. He’s a great lad so he’ll just keep learning, keep improving, keep working, which is what we all need to do,” he was quoted by the same publication.

Bournemouth’s next match is against Leicester City in the Premier League at Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
