BY STYLE REPORTER Fashion designer and philanthropist James Pande has embarked on a massive power programme aimed at enhancing the learning the process and promoting government’s e-learning programme in Masvingo rural.

Pande, famed for the Hovhorosi Style — a clothing label popular among Zanu PF supporters for its workman-style overalls during the run up to the 2013 general elections, said the donation was targeted at schools in Masvingo rural communities.

“I am donating 20 D. Light solar systems for schools and 30 reading lights to the constituency under Chief Charumbira,” he said.

“The donation is meant for the libraries in schools, but we will prioritise the classes that are writing final examinations.”

Pande said the initial donation was done and handed over to the community at a recent function that was presided over by Masvingo Provincial Affairs minister Ezra Chadzamira and Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement minister Anxious Masuka.

“The idea is to help improve learning in our communities where our children’s results are poor not just because they don’t know, but just because they don’t have the resources,” Pande said.

“We want to help our children and develop the country in sync with His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s thrust of not leaving anyone behind.”

Pande said he was willing to work with the youths in the development of Masvingo.

“We need to join forces as youths and help develop our communities in Masvingo province,” he said.

The fashion designer said he was willing to represent Zanu PF as its candidate for Masvingo urban.

He said he was working to improve the youths of Masvingo’s standard of living.

A product of Don Bosco Primary School in Mucheke, Pande said he was willing to work with anyone as it is meant to develop Masvingo.
