Pressure mounts on DeMbare

Dynamos

DYNAMOS coach Tonderai Ndiraya believes they can still beat rivals Chicken Inn to a second place finish despite his charges being held to a draw by Bulawayo giants Highlanders at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Chicken Inn beat Caps United 2-1 on Saturday to claim second spot from Dynamos with 59 points with just two matches left before the end of the season. That meant the Glamour Boys needed a victory against Bosso to retain second spot on the table. But the draw left them in third place.

Nevertheless, Ndiraya believes the remaining two matches are crucial to determine their ranking at the end of the campaign.

“I think the (second place finish) is still within reach. We are not playing easy teams either, so we are going to move on from this. These are the kind of games that gives you the indication of how strong you are mentally. We have to try and push in the last two games to get maximum points.

“The two teams were a bit hesitant. They were not really going at each other. We thought the excitement from the terraces would spur on the players to really have a go at the game but it was a little bit flat to be honest but a balanced affair and, in the end, I thought a draw was a fair result. Of course, on our end we are disappointed we couldn’t get maximum points playing at home. We wanted maximum points to keep tabs with Chicken Inn but it’s very difficult to expose yourself and risk points especially coming from a defeat,” Ndiraya said.

After their meeting with Herentals, Dynamos will have to overcome bitter city rivals Caps United in the last match of the season.

Before the latest defeat to Chicken Inn, Caps United had won two of their last three matches and drawn the other against champions FC Platinum.

Dynamos, though, go into the match with their confidence levels high having won the reverse fixture 3-0 and will be looking to complete a double over their old foes.
